Am I supposed to keep my mouth shut?

As friends part from lovers,
I smile, smug, in my own power,

but what's this?
You have secrets too?

How naive I was to think
that I was the only one.

Life goes on, and mysteries go on,
and the whirring in my brain drowns out it all.

That look I gave was one I meant,
You did not see the sigh to vent,
You think I didn't apperceive,
The lean, the arm, the laugh, the leave?

Sure, I have just what I desire,
But that was quick to catch on fire,
I'll still want you, and hate you too,
I guess that's life, this much is true.

How can I promise to move on,
With something that was never gone,
Or never happened? either way,
I'll have forgotten yesterday.

How can there be so many songs about you?
How come I see your face in every cloud?
Then the light fades, seasons melting away,
But you are my day dream, my music in life.
